Protein
Tomography™
Investigate
proteins in a biological context
Protein
Tomography™ is a unique method combining cryo-EM, electron tomography and
advanced data-processing algorithms to perform in situ or in vitro tomography
of proteins.
·
Protein Tomography™ provides tomograms of
individual proteins and protein complexes
·
Protein Tomography™ is the only method that picture
membrane proteins in a cellular context
·
Protein Tomography™ results are directly comparable
between in vitro and in situ analysis, and between species.
In
cryo-electron microscopy, the protein samples are embedded in a thin
amorphous layer of ice to preserve their ultra-structure. Electron
Tomography uses a tilt-series of electron micrographs, creating 3-D
images or tomograms when brought together.
Sidec
uses unique resolution-enhancing algorithms, for data processing and 3-D
reconstruction. The enhanced resolution allows us to observe proteins
(even membrane proteins) and protein complexes as they interact in vitro
or in situ at a fixed moment in time.
